Hmm, take two.

I know that you are all wondering why you have a photo of our ugly old duvet. If I may direct your attention to the corner, you may note the distinctly puppy-shaped look it has. Oh yes, my dog is so rawk.

Yesterday Hazel was snuffling around in the blanket. I tend to ignore it because if we make a big deal about the things she isn't supposed to do all she knows is that if she does this she gets attention. So we ignore the bad stuff and if she is playing with one of her toys tell her how good she is and have a little play. It may be working, but it is slow going. Anyway. After a few minutes she started making not normal Hazel playing noises and I looked back and saw this.

She managed to unsnap the duvet at the bottom, wiggle her way in, get to the other end, get it too twisted to find the exit, and proceeded to then try to nom her way out. I did what any puppy mommy would do--laughed really hard and once recovered from that got the camera. Oh, and when I had gotten an okay shot I helped her out of the duvet.

Yesterday Hazel ran up the stairs to the little landingy bit and refused to budge, which made for a more artistic shot than we usually get. Although I am not in th ehabit of posting more than one picture each day, I considered posting the series of shots here because the camera (which Hazel likes to try to eat) is what I eventually found was enough to coax her back down the steps. Focusing noise required, however, so there are lots of very blurry and badly framed shots of Hazel grudgingly coming down one step at a time. Anyway, they're bad and it probably only entertains me that while her squeaky toys and treats were not enough to get her to come down, the photo-op was. What a ham.

Yes, this monstrosity is the best picture that I managed to take yesterday. I was trying to show you her lovely little teeth coming in. I'm really amazed because she lost her first tooth one week ago today and already they are coming in--they're about as far out as her baby teeth were to begin with. I suppose in the wild she couldn't go running around looking like a jack-o-lantern for weeks but I am impressed at the speed of her tooth loss and regain and can completely understand how none of the other puppy owners in our puppy party had noticed that their dogs had been losing teeth.

Hazel in the woods. We went back again with Daddy, avoided the muddy path, and made friends with a collie who was very focused on his ball.

Hazel and I went for a walk in the woods yesterday. It was her first time anywhere properly woodsy and she loved it and, of course, got very muddy. We still don't have puppy shampoo (what is wrong with us?) but according to the internets a nice mix of hand soap and vinegar will get her squeaky clean and lovely. We learned this after I had drawn her bath but before she got in. So I went to the kitchen to get some vinegar and also picked up some treats to feed her while in the bath. She got very excited about said treats, jumped up for them, and got a splash of vinegar. At this point it becomes very fortunate that the bath was already drawn and she was quickly and rather unceremoniously thrown in and had water poured into her eyes, which she did not like, but I would imagine it was better than any vinegar that may have made its way in. Needless to say, I felt absolutely horrible but she seemed fine.

Also, holy stinking cow look at the state of that water! She was one grubby puppy.

Lastly, I started reading alienspouse.com yesterday which is awesome--you should all read it as well--and it is mentioned in an archived post that flickr has a picnik editing bit which I had never noticed. This picture has not been edited but I did play around with it for a while--I turned Dave orange and the bath water green. You folks can get the original though.
